New York City 2022 - DUMBO morning & East Village afternoon
College visit was the main reason that we came back to NYC in 2022. We were not necessarily planning on being a tourists in NYC in 2022 but since GG was interested in schools in NYC, we decided to be a tourist while visiting the Universities.
We had a 11:00 am campus tour with NYU but that did not mean we were able to relax and sleep in. Our first stop today was the Manhattan Bridge IG view at DUMBO. This popular IG spot is usually dotted with tourists trying to take pictures of the iconic Manhattan Bridge. To beat the crowd, we ubered to this spot (Washington and Front St) at around 8:30 am.

We spent about 15 minutes at the spot and then headed to the Time Out Market area (about a 700 yard walk from the Bridge view) since we did not get a chance to explore the area the day we arrived.

We got on the F line from the York St station to B'way-Lafayette near NYU. By the time we got to the admission office on 27 W Fourth St, there was already a long line of eager parents and over-achieving students. We checked in and only one guest was allowed to company the prospective student. So I went with GG while rest of the parties went to SoHo for some actual shopping.

We were instructed by rest of the party to head to Converse on Broadway south of Prince St in SoHo to try on some shoes for GG. There were quite a number of European tourists in the store. We tried and picked up shoes per instruction for GG and proceeded to head to Russ & Daughters to meet up with rest of the gang.
Russ & Daughters, located on 179 Houston St. in the historic immigrant neighborhood of Lower East Side was a place that we had wanted to try when we were here back in 2017. We were determined to have our Classic Bagel and Lox this time so we did not let the long line deter us. The lox of Russ & Daughters was highly regarded by many food vloggers and it is like watching an art performance to see how the lox was filleted there.

Our food journey did not end at Russ & Daughters. We continued to NoLita where Prince Street Pizza is located. After taking in a few slices of the Sicilian style pizza and resting our feet (resting with chocolate cake and coffee) a bit at the Little Cupcake Bakeshop across the street, we headed to our dinner spot - Veselka in East Village to end the night with a cup of Ukrainian Borscht and some homemade pierogi. After dinner, we strolled through the historic East Village neighborhood to catch the green line downtown back to Brooklyn.
