Our original plan was to take the ferry to Lanai from Lahaina but that would have been another long day. We also figured it would be tiring for Grandma to be under the sun for hours even though Lanai's Hulopoe Beach is one of the best beaches.
Instead, we opted to visit Muluaka Beach, a 5 minute drive from our apartment after grabbing some grub at The Cinnamon Roll Place in Kihei.

Grandma's favorite beach |
We strolled around to look for turtles on the beach and Grandma was able to dip her feet in the water for a bit. The beach felt relatively quiet on a Tuesday morning.
After soaking up the sun for sometime, we took Grandma back to the apartment and we headed to our next stop -
South Maui Fish Company.

We took our lunch to go and camped out at the nearby Ulua Beach to take in the beach vibe on our last day before we depart. I continued to look for sea turtles on the shore but no luck. Instead, there was quite a bit of interesting sea life that I could find on the volcanic rock lodged on the beach.

Ulua Beach, mid-afternoon |
We picked up or beach chairs and umbrellas mid-afternoon to head home. The traveling party had to get ready for our "farewell dinner" - 4:30 pm reservation at Merriman's on Kapulua.
Merriman's, located at Kapulua about an hour drive from our apartment in Kihei, is a fine dining restaurant by chef Peter Merriman. Located at the southern cape of the Kapalua Bay resort area, it commands one of the best views on the Maui. The view at Kapulua Bay is just as part of the dining experience as the food and the service.
At $120 per person for the dining room three-course prix fixe menu, it certainly appeared quite pricy. In my mind, any excursions on the island would have costed this much per person for a similar period of time. This dining experience is an excursion for us.
We were seated at the open air covered patio area with a great view of the cape and Molokai in the distance. At atmosphere felt sophisticated but no overly stuffy. We were warmly greeted by our server Dennis and would ended up chatting with him quite a bit through the meal.
We were served complementary champagne and the non-alcoholic equivalent for the keiki in the traveling party.
Dennis went over the menu with us the bread basket came shortly as well.
