Catching a show at the Theater District at West End is something that we wanted to experience on this trip. However, it is hard to commit to a show when you have a packed day like we did today. We visited the Houses of Parliament Tour in the morning, snacked on crepes at Trafalgar Square, walked to Buckingham Palace, and had tea at Harrods. It has always been a full day. However, to make the most out of our 72 hours in London, we decided to try out luck at scoring discounted day-of tickets.
After our tea time at Harrods, we had to make our way to "TKTS", a day-of ticketing seller at the Clocktower building at Leicester Square near the Theater District. This is journey is usually not an issue via the tube and this was our plan. However, due to unknown reason, the tube was shut down. Because the tube was shut down, everyone ended up taking the buses which caused the buses to become super crowded. We ended up walking all the way from Knightsbridge to Leicester Square. This is a 1.8 mile walk and took us just around 40 minutes. We had to make it there by 7:00 pm because that's when the day-of tickets sale stops. We made it there and after consulting with the agent, we purchased 5 near half off tickets for Matilda at the Cambridge Theater located at "Seven Dials". We could now take our time to walk there after securing the tickets.
Seven Dials is located at the north end of the Theater District. It is officially located at the borough of Camden. Seven roads converge at this little square. Located at the center of the square is a pillar with "7 dials" facing each road.
We thoroughly enjoyed the show. The cast was fantastic. After the show, we were not quite ready to quit. MM got a slice of pizza nearby to satisfy her craving. And Joanne located a nearby India restaurant - "Punjab Restaurant" and we dined there past 10:30 pm to fulfill our India food craving.
