South-central Alaska Day 10 (Sunday June 20, 2021) - Return Home

After exploring the Anchorage area for more than a week, we were getting used to the night without darkness and the ever-present light rain. We had to leave. It' time to go home. Before heading to the airport via the short 5 minute drive from our hotel, we frantically searched for the last bit of local flavor. We located Black Cup Cafe, a coffee house located South of Northern Lights Blvd. Anchorage is known for great local brewery as well as great local coffee shops. Black Cup is known for its drip coffee with coffee beam responsibly sourced and is meant to be consumed black to take in its full flavor.

We ordered the signature black drip coffee, a latte, and couple pastries. We sat at the coffee shop to savor the last couple of hours in the last frontier and our vacation. We were not in a huge hurry since our direct flight home has been delayed for at least couple of hours.

Muffins to start the day

After running around town a bit more to return some items at the huge REI and getting gas at Costco, we finally headed to the airport. After picking up our boarding pass and checking in our duffel bag, we headed to our gate. The seaplane decor had become familiar to us. We decided to sit at an Asian food diner to have our lunch and wait for our flight.

After feasting on sushi rolls, fried rice, and udon, we boarded our delayed Alaska Airline home.
